How we stay funded

Affiliate & advertising disclosure

Clearhead Lab keeps its reviews free to read, and part of how that works is affiliate revenue. We would rather explain exactly how that fits together than leave you guessing, so here is the whole arrangement.

Where the money comes from

Some of the outbound links on this site are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and go on to sign up or buy, we may earn a commission from the company on the other end.

Note: this never costs you anything extra. The price you pay is the same whether you reach a product through one of our links or find it on your own.

Where it does show up

Being gentle about this would be dishonest, so plainly: affiliate partners are listed first in the cognitive-energy ranking. That is a commercial position we state rather than leave you to infer — and we say so on the ranking page itself, where our own No. 1 sits in the weaker evidence tier.

What the money does not touch is the substance. A commission does not change what we write about a product, the price we report, the evidence tier we assign, or whether an unflattering finding stays in — and the price you pay is the same either way.

What no commission buys

No company previews, edits or approves what we publish, and none can buy a softer verdict. When the evidence is thin or a product falls short we say so, whether or not there is a commission attached — which is why our own paid partner is recorded on the ranking page as having no human trial behind its route. If keeping a relationship ever conflicted with telling you the truth about a product, the relationship would lose.

The kinds of relationships we have

Most of our affiliate links run through the Katalys network, which connects publishers like us with brands in the health and wellness space; a commission is paid when a reader we referred completes a qualifying action. These are performance-based arrangements rather than payments to feature or praise a product, and we do not accept money in exchange for a favorable review.
